Beyon Group has signed an agreement with Oracle to develop a sovereign cloud solution in Bahrain.
The company's Beyon Solutions division will use Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's (OCI) Dedicated Region offering to provide sovereign cloud services to businesses and government entities in Bahrain.
Dedicated Regions are hardware deployed at a company's data center - in this case, Beyon Solutions' data centers - that give customers access to OCI's more than 150 cloud services.
With the offering hosted in Beyon's Bahrain data centers, customers can ensure that data is kept within the country's borders and meets security and latency requirements.
The agreement was signed by Beyon Solutions CEO Nicholas Toon and Oracle EVP and GM, EMEA Cloud Infrastructure, Richard Smith during the Oracle CloudWorld Tour Dubai 2025.
Toon said: “The sovereign cloud region equips Bahrain’s businesses and government entities with the tools they need to streamline operations, foster innovation, and securely scale their digital initiatives. From hosting mission-critical workloads to quickly adapting advanced analytics, this collaboration allows customers to harness the full potential of Oracle’s industry-leading offerings with comprehensive support across all industries, most notably government, financial services, healthcare, and defense.”
Oracle's Smith added: “As we continue to navigate the complexities of the digital age, investing in sovereign cloud infrastructure that provides the latest hyperscale services is not just a matter of strategic importance—it is a necessity for the future stability, security, and prosperity of our nations.
“As the only hyperscale cloud provider capable of delivering a full suite of 150+ cloud services in a dedicated sovereign environment, Oracle is best suited to support Beyon Solution’s strategic cloud mission for the socio-economic success of Bahrain.”
No timelines for the sovereign cloud offering have been provided.
In November 2024, Batelco - part of Beyon Group - signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Qareeb Data Centres to develop a data center in Manama, Bahrain. Batelco also operates another Tier III certified data center in Halama, offering 2.75MW and capacity for 250 racks.
That same month saw STC Bahrain and Center3 announce the construction of a data center park in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the inauguration of the 2Africa Pearl subsea cable system.
Earlier this year, Oracle committed to increase its investment in Abu Dhabi by five times to meet "strong demand in the UAE."
In May 2024, Government-owned Bangladesh Data Center Company Limited (BDCCL) equipped its data centers with OCI Dedicated Region, enabling the cloud offering to be used by more than 30 government agencies in Bangladesh. Other Dedicated Region customers include Vodafone, Oman, Japan’s Nomura Research Institute (NRI), UAE telco e& (Etisalat), and G42-owned Injazat.
A smaller version of Dedicated Regions was launched in September 2024.
