AQ Compute will expand its AQ-OSL1 campus in Hønefoss, near Oslo, in Norway.

The European data center provider said it will add to its existing facility with two buildings (AQ-OSL1B and AQ-OSL1C).

The company said the two stages will expand the AQ-OSL1 campus by 15MW of gross power, and the joint expandable power supply will total 171MW.

AQ-OSL1B and AQ-OSL1C are set to go live in Q1 2025.

The AQ-OSL1 campus, which has been operating since February, currently has 50MW of IT capacity. The AQ-OSL1A building on the campus offers 6MW of IT power.

The expansion will be entirely liquid-cooled and will feature rear door heat exchangers and immersion cooling.

“AQ Compute is excited to announce the expansion of AQ-OSL1. Our first data center [has been] in operation since February, and Norway has already proven to be an ideal location for data centers. With the expansion of AQ-OSL1, we aim to meet the increasing demand for AI-ready data centers, while our sustainability concept supports our clients in reducing their environmental impacts,” said Andreas Myr, CEO of AQ Compute Norway.

AQ Compute was launched in 2020 and is a subsidiary of Aquila Capital, a German investment group specializing in renewable energy. The company has two data centers listed on its website, in Spain and Norway.

The company announced plans in February with NexGen Cloud to host a net zero “AI Supercloud,” set to be located in the AQ-OSL1A facility.
