The Andhra Pradesh government is set to develop a 500-acre “Data City” in Visakhapatnam, India.
As reported by The South First, the development will be located in Madhurawada and built to replicate Hyderabad’s HITEC City.
Further details of the project have not been shared.
The local government in the South Indian state has been focused on establishing the city of Visakhapatnam as a technology hub by offering modern infrastructure and high-speed Internet. The hope is to attract investment in the technology sector.
Nara Lokesh, Minister of IT, Electronics and Communications, and Human Resources Development, said: “We will prioritize the first 500 IT companies setting up in Andhra Pradesh. We are offering land at the lowest prices in the country and will ensure swift approvals.”
Lokesh recently invited Swiss research firms to the state to showcase Andhra Pradesh’s potential as an AI hub, encouraging collaboration with local universities.
Google recently announced plans to establish a facility on an 80-acre site in the city, as well as having signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide skill development programs for the local youth.
Tata Consultancy Services is also launching an expansion project in Visakhapatnam, with the government allotting the conglomerate space in Medha Towers and an additional 30 acres for a permanent campus.
AdaniConneX also has a facility in the city.
