DCD>Project Showcase: Permanent carbon removal - Enabling data center Net Zero

As corporations strive to meet ambitious climate goals and neutralize residual, hard-to-abate emissions to achieve Net Zero in alignment with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) standards, the need for permanent carbon removals is increasingly crucial. The United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) emphasized that achieving the Paris Agreement targets will require large-scale, permanent carbon dioxide removals (CDR) alongside significant reductions in fossil fuel emissions. In response, Stockholm Exergi is set to initiate a groundbreaking project in 2028, permanently removing 800,000 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere each year with unmatched energy and resource efficiency.

Hear more about the project backed by €180 million grant from the EU Innovation Fund and off-take agreements with major players like Microsoft and Frontier (which includes members such as Google and Meta) and learn what role carbon removal will play in hitting Net Zero ambitions.
