Energy Impact Award
As the data center has become an increasingly critical foundation of the modern world, it has become equally associated with significant energy consumption. With AI introducing new levels of energy demand, mitigating this impact is more key than ever. This award recognizes the most innovative and efficient ways in which data centers are sourcing, managing, and conserving energy.
What the judges are looking for
The judging panel will be looking to shortlist projects that are able to demonstrate with evidence-based, industry-recognized metrics and analysis, the impact of the project or initiative on energy reduction, conservation and/or overall carbon footprint improvement as a result of the project. Projects that have been reviewed favorably historically, have evidenced considerable impact pre vs post completion.
Who can enter
This category is open to any type of data center project or technological innovation where the primary goal has been the reduction of energy consumption and/or carbon usage. The project/initiative must have been completed and operational between September 1, 2024 and September 1, 2025.
Entries can include projects that have reduced energy usage through operational efficiency and technological innovation, sustainable infrastructure projects that reduce usage and conserve energy, or even wider energy ecosystem partnerships such as microgrid participation or heat re-use projects. It is NOT restricted to greenfield design-build projects.
Projects can be submitted from data center operators, end-users or other value chain partners in any region. Vendors, consulting engineers and contractors can be primary entrants so long as they have permission from the end-user client to name the project and share details. All listed partners will be acknowledged in publicity associated with the entry but the end-user/operator will be the primary recipient.
