Provider of data center infrastructure management software FieldView has added the ability to monitor Universal Electric’s data center power distribution product Starline Busway.
The companies recently finished testing the two products’ interoperability, which provides visibility into Starline’s process of supplying power to devices. FieldView instantly taps into the Busway at any location without causing downtime.
The FieldView provides a comprehensive instant view into data center operations – from IT devices and racks through power and cooling infrastructure.
Commenting on the announcement in a statement, FieldView CEO Fred Dirla said, "Because our solution is a vendor-neutral platform, it can communicate easily with whatever system the client is already using, regardless of manufacturer or communications protocols."
Mark Swift, business development manager at Universal, said integration of the two solutions would help data center operators optimize the use of space and energy consumption in their data centers.
FieldView can communicate with SNMP, XML, BACnet, OPC, and Modbus protocols used by Starline.
Universal Electric will be showcasing its technology at the upcoming DatacenterDynamics conference in San Francisco on 30 June.
