Jaring Communications Sdn Bhd is teaming up with technology-based The Red Snapper (M) Sdn Bhd and Perak E-Organization Sdn Bhd (PeO) to set up a premier Internet Data Center (IDC) and carrier hotel in MSC Cybercenter in Meru Raya, Perak.
Red Snapper, which is partially owned by the Perak state government, will manage the data center and carrier hotel with Jaring, and will be their marketing partner for tenants operating within the MSC Cybercenter.
PeO, which is wholly owned by the state government, is the main owner of the site and the building that houses the IDC and carrier hotel services.
Announcing the collaboration, Jaring chief executive officer Awang Lah said: "As we grow our Internet clout, it makes sense to expand our IDC facility, improve its diversity and have more users house their facilities within it.
Red Snapper executive chairman Rais Hussin said the three parties would work together to make Perak MSC Cybercenter a success by attracting local players and regional large foreign carriers. State Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) chief executive officer Datuk Samsuddin Hashim said the project was expected to the main driver of the strategic development programme of key 2010 projects to make Perak a "knowledge state.
He added that the IDC facility would also drive the network recovery center that ensures 24-hour operations and continuous availability of public services.
The IDC would house high-tech initiatives such as K-Perak's motive to foster innovation and product development by facilitating the creation of a research and development ecosystem, Samsuddin said.
