IO will be sending its power and data modules as well as the IO data center operating system to Australasia, after the data center company signed a deal with Australian-based data center and cloud services provider Red Cloud.
Red Cloud will be using IO’s modular data center Tier III infrastructure to deliver services throughout the region through its data centers in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth, in Australia.
Red Cloud CEO Garry Henley said the company expects to have its Melbourne and Perth facilities operational midway through 2012, with Sydney coming online shortly after.
“IOs modular technology will provide a foundation for our Australasian data center and cloud computing services,” Henley said.
“With IO, capacity is not only delivered rapidly, but we will also be able to control efficiency, utilization and operating costs of our entire infrastructure using the capabilities of IO OS.”
Australian data center operators are currently waiting to hear the final verdict on how the industry will adhere to carbon taxes, being introduced by the country.
Red Cloud focusses on the medium to large enterprise business space, offering Data Center 2.0 Technology to Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia.
