US provider of managed hosting services ServInt has completed build-out of a new data center in Reston, Virginia, it leased from wholesale colocation provider CoreSite in March 2011.

The build-out initially adds more than 0.5MW of capacity, according to a ServInt statement, but more room is available for expansion.

David Horowitz, associate VP at Grubb &Ellis, a commercial-real-estate advisory firm that worked with ServInt and CoreSite on the lease, said in a statement released in March that advantage of working with a large national developer like CoreSite was in efficiencies companies working in multiple markets could gain.

"For that reason, it was ServInt's preference and our recommendation to work with CoreSite in this transaction," Horowitz said.

The data center is part of a complex whose features include six utility-power feeds through two electrical substations and four 2.25MW generators. The complex also includes seven 400-ton cooling plants.

This is ServInt's second data center in Virginia, with the first one located about 20 miles east, in the City of McLean. The company has two more data centers in Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles.
